WELLNESS ATTENDANT

Under the direction of the Health & Wellness Manager is responsible for performing personal assistance tasks in an efficient and cooperative manner, with due consideration for residents, ensuring adherence to the principles of choice, independence, individuality, respect, dignity and a homelike environment.

BACKGROUND / QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE WELLNESS ATTENDANT:

  • Graduate of a recognized LTC Aide program or equivalent experience.  Completion of medication administration module. 
  • Certified in Emergency First Aid, Level 1.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, Food Safe.
  • Ability to maintain effective oral and written communications in English and have a positive self-projection, nurturing excellent human relations with residents, families and other team members.
  • Ability to work independently as well as taking direction.  Ability to work with minimum supervision and to evaluate and meet the residents’ service needs, demonstrating initiative and problem solving skills.
  • A people-person with a heart for seniors and a positive, outgoing disposition, a team player, flexible and versatile.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE WELLNESS ATTENDANT.

  • Performs personal assistance to promote comfort and safety for the resident in accordance with the standards of the residence.
  • Assists in observing and reporting changes in the residents’ physical and emotional condition.
  • Performs duties with an acceptable standard of skill and with a sense of responsibility.
  • Assists with other duties as necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of the residence, including assisting in the dining room or with occasional housekeeping duties.
  • Maintains effective oral and written communication and good human relations with residents, families, and staff, using appropriate lines of communication.
  • Recognizes safety hazards and assists in maintaining a safe, neat, clean environment for residents and personnel.
  • Participates in the overall activation process developed by the facility to promote the well-being of each resident (physical, spiritual, social, and emotional).
  • Aware of in-service education opportunities within the residence and seeks out those that will improve their personal level of practice to keep informed of current trends.
  • Maintains a good attendance record.
  • Participates in the residence’s ongoing Fire Prevention, Pest Control, Continuous Quality Improvement,
  • Occupational Health and Safety, and Infection Control programs as required.
  • Handles all matters in a confidential manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned with an exemplary standard of skill and sense of responsibility

DINING ATTENDANT

Servers perform a variety of hospitality services within a restaurant setting such as take orders, provide information on daily specials, deliver orders, and ensure that every other aspect of customer service is covered. They are considered part of the overall dining experience and are expected to give more attention to customers and their services such as providing meal recommendations, wine pairing suggestions and educate customers about ingredients in dishes that they serve.

 BACKGROUND / QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE DINING SERVER:

  • Able to communicate clearly in and possess a good command of verbal and written English
  • A minimum of 1 years working experience
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to understand and respond to individual needs and requirements
  • Serving it Right; Food Safe Level 1; and possess a genuine interest in food and beverage
  • Basic math/financial calculations
  • Ability to multitask under pressure whilst maintaining a positive outlook and attention to detail
  • Able to organize time effectively prioritize tasks to ensure work load is balanced and situations are dealt with immediately.
  • Clean Criminal Records Check
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (e.g. Verve Senior Living Competencies)
  • Physically able to meet the demands of the job in a fast-paced environment

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE DINING SERVER

  • To provide an exceptional customer dining experience.
  • Greet residents and guests as they arrive and introduce yourself (if necessary)
  • Provide information on revolving menu items and daily specials
  • Take beverage orders
  • Allow time for menu considerations, but keep a watchful eye for service calls
  • Answer questions regarding menu items and ingredients and provide information regarding dietary requirements/requests
  • Suggest appropriate wines or beverages to pair with meals
  • Stay current on items the kitchen may be running short of and suggest alternatives
  • Take orders for lunch & dinner and repeat order to ensure accuracy
  • Relay orders to the kitchen and check prepared orders for accuracy and portion size and that they are served in a time efficient manner
  • Prepare drinks according to customer instructions
  • Confirm customer satisfaction before delivering check (if required)
  • Clear table: clean and buss and reset with clean linen, china and cutlery

  • Assist in maintaining a safe, neat and clean environment for residents and staff
  • Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS). This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in in-services and fire drills
  • Provides a protective oversight of residents and reports any unusual occurrences, concerns, or changes to a residents’ daily life which may affect their health and welfare
  • Performs other duties as required
