Maintenance Mechanic

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to join our Maintenance Team.  Reporting directly to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, the successful applicant will play a key role in providing service and maintenance of production equipment including electronic sorting equipment, conveying and handling systems, fruit labelling and weighing bagging equipment.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Conduct tests and inspections of equipment and processes to evaluate quality, performance and opportunities for improvement.
  • Repair, install, adjust or maintain industrial production machinery.
  • Work with conveyors, automated and robotics systems, processing equipment (i.e. box conveyors, palletizers, baggers and carton erecters) and high speed packing equipment.
  • Record time, parts and materials used and order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary.
  • Provide knowledge and understanding of fluid, mechanical and air operated processes.
  • Adhere to all food safety, health and Safety, HACCP and Hygiene rules and procedures

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Mechanical technical aptitude and industrial maintenance experience
  • Mechanical and/or electrical experience in diagnostic/troubleshooting and preventative maintenance
  • A reliable team player that promotes a positive corporate culture
  • Excellent communication and multi-tasking ability
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow manufacturer’s specifications and schematics to identify and troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to lift 40lbs on an occasional basis
  • Availability to work 4pm to 1:30 am
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing considered an asset
