Description:
The Secretary 1 in the Laboratory department is responsible for various receptionist/administrative functions that support the professional lab staff and external stakeholders. Duties will include medical transcription, maintenance and distribution of various lab reports, referrals, and administrative functions relating to pathology specimens.
This exciting opportunity includes working alongside the Pathologist directly in the lab. This position is well suited for an experienced medical administrative professional looking for a new challenge and to enhance their skillset.
Qualifications:
- Medical Secretary Certificate from recognized training institution or equivalent in work experience and continuing education
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to accurately and efficiently transcribe medical dictation
- Keyboarding skills – minimum of 50 WPM
- Knowledge of general office practices
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure with time constraints
- Reliable attendance record
