Transportation Coordinator Scarborough 2123854

We are looking for a Transportation Coordinator for our corporate office in Scarborough.  Reporting to the Transportation Manager, the Transportation Coordinator is responsible for sourcing pallets, carriers and coordinating the movement of product in a cost effective manner. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate shipments via various modes of transportation
  • Source and arrange carriers based on territories or mode of transportation
  • Maintain the rate database/UFOS
  • File and settle freight claims in a timely manner
  • Respond to inquiries related to pick-ups, deliveries, or service.
  • Provide rate quotations to internal customers
  • Prepare and distribute reports as required
  • Code cartage invoices for timely processing
  • Manage the GPS System
  • Oversee Cartage drivers  
  • Issue PO for pallet purchases and CHEP rentals
  • Maintain database with rates for all pallet types
  • Reconcile CHEP account
  • Conduct trailer audit
  • Provide back up support for the Transportation Manager
  • Manage and assist in projects as assigned 

Qualifications: 

  • Post-secondary education or training in the transportation or logistic fields
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years progressive experience in a multi-modal transportation environment
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • Strong/effective communication skills
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Must be a team player committed to maintaining desired service levels
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency and be able to demonstrate the ability to solve problems in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to present themselves in a professional manner
