The Accountant, Corporate & Treasury is accountable to the Controller, Corporate Accounting for corporate accounting and treasury functions for Morguard, including cash flow forecasting and strategic planning.


  1. Corporate Accounting: Oversees, reviews and approves the timely and accurate gathering, inputting and reporting of corporate accounting and non-consolidated financial statements in order to meet company and regulatory reporting requirements and provide information for decision making. Including preparation and monitoring of upcoming cash flow sources/uses in order to plan and manage bank operating lines.
  2. Cash Management/Treasury: Monitoring of all cash requirements pertaining to the organization including refinancing programs, development projects, capital expenditures, distributions to unitholders, acquisitions, dispositions, and any other capital cash requirements, in addition to liaising with banking institution and management as required. Assist with mortgage refinancing program as required, including support throughout the underwriting process, and ensuring borrowing covenants are understood and are in full compliance.
  3. Support of Business Strategy: Supports the development of and subsequently aligns the corporate cash management function with the overall business strategy. Assists with improving of the operating efficiencies of the business through new policy/technology implementations that combine industry best practices and capabilities of technology; Establishes relationships with business disciplines enterprise-wide (but, particularly within the operations area) to facilitate corporate requirements.
  4. Relationships with Internal Stakeholders: Develops collaborative relationships with various internal functions to ensure effective communication flow to ensure information is shared and used in a timely manner to allow for a more efficient accounting process and business decision making.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Commerce or equivalent
  • A CPA designation
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in cash management and business process experience in sophisticated business setting
  • Demonstrated track record of creating and implementing strategic change and innovation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of related compliance and security regulations, requirements and standards
  • Proven record of successful project and change management at the organizational level.
  • Excellent computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of accounting software (preferably YARDI 7).
