We are presently looking for a Licensed Heavy-Duty Mechanic (Diesel Engine) 421A for full-time work for our location in Oakville, Ontario.

We are looking for someone for their mechanical abilities. It will be considered an asset if they have administrative duties experience.

Job Summary (not limited to)

  • Diesel Engine Repairs or possibly rebuilds
  • Undercarriage re/re
  • Regular maintenance and oil sampling
  • Small Welding repairs
  • Hydraulic component re/re and repairs (motors, pumps, cylinders, valve banks, spools, etc.)
  • Disassembly of final drives/rear ends for out-sourced rebuilding and reassembly
  • Repair oil leaks and broken hoses
  • Re/re cutting edges
  • Filling out and submitting Daily Work Logs
  • Tools provided by employee
  • All supplies and consumables provided by DIG
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner, promoting our Health and Safety Programs

 Work Environment

  • Shop work
  • Field service
  • DIG supplied Service Vehicle.

 Anticipated Hours

  • Weekly Mon-Fri predominately, 6:30am – 4:30pm (or similar)
  • 2 x 15-minute breaks daily (paid)
  • 30-minute lunch period (unpaid)
  • Saturdays/weekends only as required and in extraordinary circumstances (major breakdown of critical piece)

Compensation Package

  • Hourly wage starts at $40.00 plus 4% vacation pay, paid twice annually
  • Premium time weekends (1 -1/2 x hourly rate)
  • Paid statutory holidays
  • Two (2) weeks’ vacation for first 12 months, unpaid
  • Complete GWL health benefit package included (3-month probationary period waived)
  • Work phone included
  • Work uniform included
  • Fuel card and transponder provided with service vehicle
  • Service vehicle is permitted for travel to and from work


  • 3+ years of experience working on industrial/construction equipment.
  • 421A trades certification.
  • Demonstrated previous shop environment skills.
  • Self-starter, independent and a team player with a sense of urgency.
  • Proficient with computer systems and machine diagnostics.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude, analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours during normal business hours in support of the business needs.
  • Successful candidates will be motivated, personable and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must have a valid Ontario Drivers License.
