REPORTS TO: Dir. Recreation 

STATUS OF POSITION: Full Time

Position Summary

The Snow & Bike School Manager should not only have an extensive knowledge of both Winter Recreational Sports as well as Mountain Biking, but also the leadership and administrative skills to coach and manage staff, interact with guests, create a labour schedule, and foster an environment of continuous fun and learning for guests and team members. The Manager will work with the Director of Recreation to effectively run and oversee all Snow & Bike School operations and functions in a professional manner creating a fun and successful environment for sport development.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and improves Horseshoe Resort standards and services to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures related to ski/snow/bike programs 
  • Work closely with the Recreation department to develop a top-level ski & bike coaching program
  • Conduct routine instruction audits and provide feedback to Instructors
  • Deliver a variety of teaching and coaching sessions to Instructors to ensure ongoing skills development
  • Develop all Snow & Bike School programs
  • Personally conduct and/or assist with regular on hill training sessions
  • Coordinate with Group Sales Manager and facilitate group lessons and ability testing for all corporate and school groups as required
  • Conduct Interviews, hire, and train enthusiastic employees while continually coaching them on how to improve standards of service, inform Human Resources of any staffing shortfalls and follow up accordingly  
  • Encourage high employee morale and loyalty, maintain departmental organization
  • Improve, maintain, and adhere to all operational and safety procedures ensuring safe and efficient operation of Snow & Bike Sports programs
  • Assist with guest complaints, general incidents and accidents and troubleshooting
  • Complete employee evaluations
  • Prepare schedules while maintaining lowest possible labour costs without jeopardizing guest experience
  • Work with the Guest Services Lesson desk to resolve guest problems in an efficient and courteous manner
  • Deal with staff concerns promptly and effectively

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 2 CSIA Certification
  • Minimum Level 1 PMBIA Certification (or ability to attain)
  • Level 1 CASI Certification is an asset
  • Experience running children’s camp is an asset
  • Outstanding organizational skills a must
  • Excellent customer service and computer skills
  • Must be well mannered and personable
  • Ability to multi-task and cope with pressure
  • Good knowledge of snow sports, mountain biking and resort operations
  • Good knowledge of procedures and equipment
  • Minimum 5 years Management experience preferably in the Ski Industry
  • Experience as a Snow School Director or Manager is a strong asset
