Fabrication Shop Helper

We are seeking a Fabrication Shop Helper that desires to be part of a growing company where they can expand their knowledge and earn experience daily in practical ways.  This is an entry level position that requires no prior industrial or trade experience.  One that offers an excellent opportunity to eventually branch out into a new career. 

We offer extensive and varied cross training to our employees such as robotic and non-robotic welding, painting, hydraulics, and more with an opportunity to transfer into that chosen field once fully trained as positions become available.

In this position you will work in a manufacturing facility to build grapples, clamshell buckets, and more that are used all over the world. You will be trained to build our products, load and unload trucks using cranes, disassemble various buckets and grapples, and do a variety of other tasks that are essential to our team.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in safety meetings, pre-job safety briefings, etc.
  • Must keep a clean and organized work area
  • Contribute to positive shop morale
  • Use required personal protective equipment and ensure all employees do as well
  • Must follow and maintain safety standards and avoid cutting corners that may compromise safety
  • Report unsafe conditions and/or practices and make safety suggestions

 

Requirements

  • Ability to move and work around a fabrication shop environment while maintaining a safety focused mindset
  • Ability or willingness to learn how to move material using forklifts, gantry cranes, and/or jib cranes
  • Ability or willingness to learn to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and other written instructions
  • Ability or willingness to learn to perform simple fitting assignments according to blueprints and layout specifications
  • Ability or willingness to learn to use oxy-fuel cutting torches, arc gouging equipment, and various hand and power tools
  • Ability or willingness to learn how to read a tape measure and other measuring tools
  • Ability or willingness to learn to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole and fractional measurements
  • Ability to lift and move 50 lbs., climbing up and down ladders, bending and squatting for long periods of time, and using sledgehammers up to 20 lbs.
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • High school diploma/GED preferred
