Stiff Boom Crane Operator

We are looking for a top tier operator, or a dedicated professional working towards that goal, to join our Vancouver Island Team out of our centrally located Nanaimo branch. Duties and Responsibilities
• Primary: Stiff Boom Operator
• Secondary: Folding Boom Operator
• Tertiary: Tractor-trailer with attached Moffett unit


• Occasionally perform shipping / receiving and inventory duties.
• Ensure paper work is complete with quantities, time on/off site, truck number, delivery date and required signatures.
• Safely load, check and double check your deliveries for accuracy before leaving the yard.
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance at all times.
• Drive professionally and defensively at all times following all traffic laws.
• Meet and greet customers at appointed times, and if going to be late, communicate with operations and inform the customer.
• Use company safety practices at all job sites and while delivering the goods.
• If unable to carry out any assigned duty, communicate immediately with dispatch or operations
• Take photos of each delivery and log properly for easy reference.
• When deliveries are completed, meet with Dispatcher to determine next delivery. If no deliveries report to Warehouse/Yard Supervisor for instruction.
• Perform daily equipment and vehicle inspections, hazard assessments, and driver logs with great attention to detail.
• Maintain clean and fully serviceable motorized and attached equipment
• Perform all required duties with 100% compliance.

 

Qualifications and Requirements
• Level A Stiff Boom Certification <40 Ton or Level B Stiff Boom Certification with Valid Level A Folding Boom Certification <20 Ton or Level A Folding Boom Certification <22 Ton or Industry recognized equivalent certification (ITA / Red Seal)
• Commitment to personal development and advancement
• Clean NSC Abstract
• Valid Class 1 Drivers License. Class 3 with air brake endorsement MAY be accepted depending upon overall candidate qualifications.
• Able to pass Drug & Alcohol testing and commitment to abide by all company substance use policies
• Ability to pass Government of Canada and/or Correctional Service Canada background/security checks to “enhanced reliability” status is highly preferred.
• Understand and comply with all applicable National Safety Code and WorkSafe BC regulations
• Understand and apply the Science of Safety without exception while mastering the Art of Customer Service
• The ability to Improvise, Adapt and Overcome in the field
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• High comfort level working in a diverse environment with a high level of situational awareness
• Ability to both accept and provide leadership direction

Hourly Wage: $25.00 - $28.00
