JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to participate in the operation and maintenance of CCWA recreation areas, lakes, rental buildings, and the Wetlands Center including deer hunts and related special events.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•Monitors maintenance staff and evaluates quality of work at recreation areas, Wetlands Center, and community rental buildings; secures building at night.
• Performs up-keep of the recreation area, CUB, and Wetland Center; mows lawns; picks up litter; and handles trash removal.
• Performs public relations for the recreation areas; manages special projects.
• Assists with deer hunts in the fall and winter months; maintains deer hunt records; repairs trails; processes and issues deer hunting permits, lottery selection, and notification; and monitors deer hunting activities.
• Performs maintenance and repairs at the reservoir areas, wetlands facility, rental buildings, and grounds.
• Addresses complaints.
• Performs maintenance and repairs to landscape equipment as needed.
• Assists in the preparation of reports of public attendance and income from fees against operational costs; and compiles data information for deer management reports including harvest totals, deer age, weight, sex, location of deer harvested, and related data.
• Explains and enforces rules and regulations at the recreational areas; interacts with the public concerning the recreational areas.
• Processes a variety of documentation associated with Department/Division operation, within designated timeframes and per established procedures.
• Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments.
• Performs other assigned duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
• High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of related work experience in recreation or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all CCWA or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as heavy work involving lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. If someone can do heavy work, then he or she can also do medium, light, and sedentary work.
• Tasks typically involve some combination of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and prolonged standing; tasks may also involve some pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of heavy weight. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
