ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Director Building Services, the Manager – Building Services is responsible for coordinating inspections, maintenance, and repair services for all related equipment for Hogarth Riverview Manor, Sister Leila Greco Apartments and Sister Margaret Smith Centre.

WHAT YOU BRING
Education/Experience:
- Post secondary degree or diploma in engineering, engineering or construction technology, or other related field
- Membership in an affiliated professional association relating to the work requirements or ability to obtain (e.g. OACETT, PEO, CHES)
- Minimum of three to five years’ experience in a managerial or supervisor capacity in institutional or commercial maintenance, preferably in a unionized environment
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices relating to maintenance
- Proven experience in current and active Building Code Identification Number (BCIN) as per the regulations of the Building Code Act
- Experience in the management of capital projects and facility or equipment upgrades with knowledge of construction methods, documentation processes, and related legislation
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret applicable legislation and related regulations, codes, and standards; specifically, the Long-Term Care Homes Act and its Regulation and the Building Code Act
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine layout requirements
- Superior ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing, including the ability to issue clearly understandable written and oral instructions
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with superiors, coworkers, contractors, consultants, officials, stakeholders, and staff
- Excellent project/time management, with proven ability to effectively coordinate a number of projects simultaneously
- Excellent analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proven acumen in business and financial management, with the ability to improve departmental effectiveness and efficiency through the management and utilization of human, financial, and physical resources.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to direct, motivate, evaluate, and recognize staff; proven ability to share skills and knowledge with others.
- Proven conflict management abilities and mediation skills
- Proficiency with office computer equipment and software. Proficient computer skills for accessing information, updating preventative maintenance program and/or equipment troubleshooting
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as amended
Assets:
- One or more indentured apprenticeships in the building trades
- Proficiency with Cad drawing systems and Project Scheduling software
- Facility Management and/or project management credentials (i.e. FMA or PMP)
Conditions of Employment:
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
- Ability to travel to various work locations as required and provide own transportation
- Must be available for “on call' requests after normal working hours
