ABOUT THE POSITION
We are looking for a detail-oriented Pump Inspector to join our shop team.
This role is critical to our repair process. After a pump is disassembled, the Inspector is responsible for thoroughly evaluating all components, identifying wear and failure points, documenting findings, and preparing clear inspection notes that allow our estimator to build accurate repair quotes.
This is a hands-on mechanical role that requires both technical knowledge and strong documentation discipline.
In this role you will:
- Inspect disassembled pumps and rotating equipment components
- Measure and record tolerances, wear patterns, and damage
- Identify root causes of failure where possible
- Take organized, clear photos of all findings
- Document required repairs, recommended replacements, and machining needs
- Communicate findings clearly to the estimator and operations team
- Ensure inspection packages are complete and accurate before quoting

RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with pumps or rotating equipment
- Experience in pump repair, industrial maintenance, or mechanical rebuild environments
- Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and understand tolerances
- Comfortable using measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Ability to identify abnormal wear patterns and component failures
- Organized and disciplined with photo and file management
Preferred:
- Experience in pump teardown and rebuild
- Familiarity with common pump types (centrifugal, vertical turbine, split case, submersible)
- Experience working with estimators or technical quoting teams
- Understanding of vibration, alignment, or rotating equipment fundamentals
- Previous experience in manual machining
