Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 per annum
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Packaging/Mechanical Engineer to join our packaging design and innovation team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate who has a solid foundation in mechanical design and is eager to grow in plastic product and packaging development.
The successful candidate should be able to interpret engineering drawings and 3D models, and communicate effectively in both English and Chinese. Experience with CAD tools and a basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding are strong assets.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in translating industrial design concepts into functional mechanical designs under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Support the design and development of plastic components and simple assemblies for packaging and consumer products.
- Create and modify 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings (e.g., SolidWorks or similar tools).
- Interpret and review technical drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and basic GD&T.
- Work with internal teams and external vendors to support prototyping, tooling, and production processes.
- Assist in design-for-manufacturing (DFM) reviews to ensure parts are feasible for production.
- Support troubleshooting of basic production or design issues and participate in problem-solving activities.
- Participate in sample testing, product validation, and documentation of results.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Assist in building prototypes, including 3D printing and model assembly.
- Support project documentation, technical reports, and engineering change updates.
- Collaborate with Sales & Marketing teams during early project stages to understand product requirements.
- Continuously learn and develop technical skills related to packaging design and manufacturing processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline (recent graduates are welcome).
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and 3D models.
- Familiarity with mechanical CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent).
- Basic understanding of plastic injection molding or manufacturing processes is an asset.
- Desire to learn and grow in product and packaging development.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
