Manager, Infrastructure & Operations

Mississauga, ON

Reporting to the Director, Infrastructure & Operations, the Manager, Infrastructure & Operations will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships within the business to support the provisioning and maintenance of both pro-active and reactive Information Technology (IT) & Operational Technology (OT) services at Morguard. This position requires experience in managing a team of highly technical individuals and a proven ability to understand various technical workflows. The incumbent’s technical abilities will be critical in identifying solutions, analyzing the day to day operations, and coordinating I&O operations.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Annual Budgeting
    Partners with the Cost Accounting and Director, Infrastructure & Operations annually to understand costs for running the I&O operations.
  2. Information Technology and Operational Technology Development
    Responsible for developing IT & OT standards in conjunction with the Director, Infrastructure & Operations. Inventories, analyzes and rationalizes infrastructure and operations assets deployed across the Morguard asset portfolio. Partners with Director, Infrastructure & Operations to build out the IT/OT portfolio. Works with Director, Infrastructure & Operations to develop and implement standards for I&O hardware and devices. Collaborates with the Director, Infrastructure & Operations to develop and implement solutions/strategies/standards for necessary Infrastructure & Operations operational efficiency by conducting research, assessing financial requirements, and modifying existing processes. Prepares tests and implements software solutions for monitoring I&O performance and provides performance statistics and reports.
  3. Troubleshooting
    Identifies which OT & IT systems are connected to the internet and/or are collecting data of any type and works with the Manager, Information Security & Digital Risk to ensure that cyber-security measures are built in, which includes identifying ways to protect these systems or isolate their breach impact, and identifying and installing software or tools needed to close critical identified vulnerabilities. Responds to incoming requests regarding office moves, complex desktop, and mobile device problems as escalated from Service Desk by performing analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex OT problems for business users; recommends and implements corrective solutions accordingly. Manages and escalates (if required) technical issues internally and with third party vendors.
  4. Infrastructure & Operations
    Coordinate with the Endpoint Administrator to do research on I&O products and mobile devices in support of procurement and standardization efforts. Evaluates and recommends products for purchase. Writes technical specifications for purchase of I&O hardware and related products, as well as mobile and cellular devices. Prepares tests and implements software solutions for monitoring I&O performance and provides performance statistics and reports. Oversees the management of the mobile data plan and consumption thresholds for the Enterprise.
  5. Maintenance of Operational Equipment and Systems
    Ensures efficient performance, and maintenance of operational equipment or systems. Conducts assessments to identify operational limitations and to initiate steps necessary for improved processes. Installs, configures, tests, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots I&O hardware and mobile devices along with related software to meet required service levels.
  6. Procurement & Asset Management
    Oversee and provide guidance to the procurement and asset management analyst to streamline and enhance the operations.  Accountability to ensure proper level of business hardware inventory of all types is maintained along with keeping the hardware catalogue current.
  1. Continuous Improvement
    Assists in the development of long-term strategies and conducts capacity planning to ensure that future I&O hardware and mobile device requirements are met proactively and effectively. Accountable for ensuring currency of App Catalog on all devices (EUC devices, Company Portal App store, etc). Co-accountable with the Manager, Service Desk for keeping the new user guide (NUG), onboarding packages and NUG/EUC educational material areas in the IT section on the intranet up to date.

 

Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Education

  • University degree or College diploma in the field of Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or 8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of education
  • Minimum of 3 years in leadership role. The candidate must have experience in managing technical teams
  • Have technical certifications related to Cloud technologies, Office 365, Networking, Virtual Environments etc.
  • Experience managing server, network and/or telephony systems, including configuration and hardware
  • Technical experience working with server technologies such as Windows Server, Linux, VMware vSphere, and server hardware
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with end point security and data loss prevention technologies
  • Experience with Operational Technologies within the Real Estate / Property Management industry would be considered an asset

  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail
  • Effective at managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines and working well under pressure
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
